Matt's Australian Roadshow (October 2024)
If you're an Aussie (or Kiwi) and want to hang/work with Matt, here's some info to get the ball rolling
This message is intended for all corporate governance nerds and enthusiasts in Australia (and potentially New Zealand, too!). Matt Fullbrook will be in your part of the world for all of October 2024 and is interested in meeting and working with as many cool people and organizations as possible while he’s there.
Sounds great! But, who is Matt Fullbrook?
Matt is a corporate governance advisor, coach, speaker, educator and podcaster based in Toronto. He works with boards of directors and senior executives to help make their jobs less painful, drawing from 20+ years of experience in more than 300 boardrooms.
Matt is convinced that most corporate governance issues stem from the fact that nobody seems to be able to describe what good corporate governance really is. As in, what are the specific differences between walking into a boardroom and doing an amazing job and just, y’know, showing up?
From bite-sized podcast episodes to mindset-expanding keynotes to deep-dive advisory engagements, Matt’s corporate governance repertoire is designed to engage and inspire audiences of any size, sector or industry. As a bonus, most of Matt’s work is informed by actual science.
Also, he’s a rad bass player.
Let’s imagine I want to work with Matt. What does that look like?
Thanks for asking! If you already kind of know what you want – a keynote speaker for a conference or a facilitator for a board session, for example – just reach out to Matt and he can come back with some suggested topics and objectives. Don’t be shy. Matt is used to all kinds of engagements ranging from one-on-one coaching with chairs and CEOs (AKA governance therapy) to multi-day intensive creative/design bootcamps to literal jam sessions.
If you’re really not sure what you’re looking for, the best place to start is by reaching out. If even that seems premature, then you can spend some time listening to Matt’s One Minute Governance and Sound-Up Governance podcasts. Before long, you’ll feel like you know him already.
That’s helpful, I guess, but can’t you just give me a list of services?
At the risk of sounding annoying, most of Matt’s engagements really are customized to the quirky needs of each client rather than being picked from a menu of services. In case you need a bit of inspiration, here are some ideas in Mad Lib form:
Designing and facilitating a [number of hours or days]-long session for [type of audience that might be interested in corporate governance] on the topic of [corporate governance-related topic]
Delivering an unforgettable keynote at [your event] about how to solve [seemingly-unsolvable governance problem] including musical performance elements in the style of [your favourite musical artist]
Joining as guest faculty at [your governance-related program] where instead of just lecturing on [boring conventional governance topic, like fiduciary duty or something] Matt will engage the participants in modeling new behaviours so they go back to their lives with actual, tangible new skills.
Moderating a panel at [your event] on the topic of [something at least vaguely governance-related], except I’m starting to realize that panels are inherently kinda boring and wonder if Matt can find a way to make it feel a little more [your favourite antonym for “boring”]
Facilitating a mixology lesson at your dinner party while prompting stimulating governance- and music-themed conversations. (Sorry no Mad Lib here, but this is something that Matt actually occasionally does. You’ll have to provide the bar, though.)
If any of this sounds even the least bit interesting to you, why not just reach out? What’s the worst that could happen?
