If you’re looking at the comic strip above and thinking ā€œwhat the heck *is* this??ā€ then please take 5 minutes or less to check out the first instalment of Potato Pat from last week. It explains where the concept came from and what we’re trying to do with it.

If you already know what’s up here’s this week’s…

ALTERNATE UNIVERSE!!!!

Whether or not you agree with Potato Pat that boardrooms are supposed to be solemn and formal venues, please take a minute to share your reactions to following questions, and anything else on your mind. Feel free to use the comments section, or send us direct emails to matt@groundupgovernance.com or nate@groundupgovernance.com.

QUESTIONS:

  1. How does the alternate universe make you feel? Obviously we all like having fun, but…actually *playing* together during a board meeting?? What do you make of that?

  2. For what it’s worth, Potato Pat is right: boardrooms (and the stuff that happens in them) really *don’t* change. At all. Ever. Even though everything else in our organizations changes all the time, and really fast! Why is that? Or, if you have experienced some meaningful change in your boardroom, tell us about it. What did it take to get things moving?

  3. Any board game recommendations??

Stay tuned for the next instalment of Potato Pat, coming soon!!

PP is a priceless character-maybe needs a top hat or beret LOL; Fun can be had in the boardroom when common ground can be found-especially in situations where all can agree to the level of ridiculousness that something may be or where there is serious profoundness...It is all about being comfortable with each other and knowing that no comment will be mocked and all ideas can be seriously and respectfully looked at and debated, even if it means using a little self deprecation at times
