NOTE: This post is about the HOW of navigating Ground-Up Governance. If you want more info about what it is and why it exists, read this.
TL;DR You’ll learn more and have the most fun if you read all the numbered posts in order, starting HERE. Paid subscribers get access to a podcast and lots of other cool stuff.
Ground-Up Governance is like an encyclopedia crossed with a graphic novel. The objective is to simplify the endless jargon surrounding corporate governance. Every Monday, and usually Wendesday (and *maybe* Friday sometimes, too), you’ll get a new post explaining a term or concept that’s essential to corporate governance. These posts are sequenced in a jargon hierarchy, meaning we won’t refer to an arcane word or concept that we haven’t already defined. In other words, it’s a *really* good idea to start at the beginning with the most fundamental corporate governance concept of all: authority. This means you’ll have to be patient and not immediately ask questions like “how does this apply in my boardroom?” because we won’t have the vocabulary to talk about “boardroom” until the 38th post (or thereabouts). To give you an idea of where this is going, there’s a roadmap below of where we’re planning on going as of the date of launch.
Oh, and another reason to read everything in order is that we’ll be introducing characters - real and imagined - and storylines that will make a lot more sense that way. And if you want some practical real-world insights along the way, subscribing will get you access to the Sound-Up Governance podcast and regular audio/video content featuring commentary and special guests.
What do I Get for Subscribing?
The whole encyclopedia/graphic novel is available to everyone for free, even without a subscription. So, if you really don’t like subscribing to things, just check back regularly to stay up to date.
Signing up for a free subscription just means you’ll get an email notification about new posts, and that we can reach out to you if new cool things are happening.
A paid subscription gives you access to Sound-Up Governance, a podcast that gives real-world perspectives as a companion to the definitions. The first three episodes of Sound-Up Governance are available to everyone here, here, and here.
Paid subscribers will also get access to additional content including podcasts, videos, and giveaways.
