I can’t believe how close we are to the anniversary of the launch of Ground-Up Governance! Nate and I thought we would use this new Substack feature to thank everybody for following along, and to see how you’re all feeling. So…what’s on your mind? For me it’s that I’m so impressed and grateful that anyone (let alone lots of people) are interested in our wacky perspectives on corporate governance.
I am so thankful to have grown Ground-Up Governance with you, Matt! I’ve learned soooo much about corporate governance this year, and love how open you are to the silly weirdness! I’m actually dying to hear what people’s thoughts are on their fav definition / illustration this past year! What’s yours, Matt?
I *love* all the tarantula handling definitions and definitions, but especially the audit one because I recently learned that my friend Aida (Sound-Up episode 38) actually literally for real had to count rats as an auditor. I also really like Cherry Chaz and the other characters from the Aisha/Alisha/cake/apple nonsense. Oh, and the amazing forlorn looks on the faces of the minority shareholders in the controlled company definition. Dude, you’re so hilarious. Now I kinda wanna bring back all those storylines.
Haha yeah the Tarantula Handler is also one of my fav characters! Just imagine a fully animated cartoon with these folks!!! :D
I think my number one favourite character that made me laugh out loud the most was the recent Peanut Butter Allergy sufferer on "Liability" haha. The poor, poor soul.
I am grateful for governance thought leaders like you who aren't afraid to tackle the awkward conversations and to ask the hard questions (in a nice way of course). Thanks for keeping governance fun! Russ Siemens
Matt-wacky-maybe BUT it stimulates conversations and debates, and that's the whole idea...I'll take wacky anyday over a Powerpoint!!!....Happy -Pre-B-day...looking forward to many more years of "immaturity" if I may!!!..
Ron! Thanks for checking in, man. Someone called me immature as an "insult" a few days ago. They had no idea how wrong they were lol. So glad you're part of the cool crowd.
I have just loved Matthew found someone equally as fun and whacky to do Ground-Up Governance with - Nate! Thanks to both of you and Congratulations!!!!
Matt - and Nate, congratulations on a very successful first year! I continue to be really impressed with what you're doing and the brilliant approach you are taking to communicate what can be some pretty dry material. Thanks so much for doing it, and for doing it so well!
